Flood warnings in the UK South Yorkshire

The UK has several severe flood warnings on the River Don in South Yorkshire, says the BBC.  According to the news about 400 homes have been flooded and 1200 properties evacuated. Prime Minister Boris Johnson is having a meeting about the environmental situation and possible national emergency in the area, if needed, during Tuesday.

According to the Government, the situation during the weekend did not reached the national emergency levels. According to Government, there are several floodings also in Nottingshamshire, Derbyshire and Lincolnshire.

At the moment there are several Environmental Agency´s high-volume pumps in the Fishlake to remove the floodwater from the village and they continue to monitor the flood levels around the clock.

-People should remain vigilant, check their flood risk and plan to stay safe. We advice people to stay away from swollen rivers and not to walk or drive through floods, the agency says.

Twitter to stop political ads in its platform

Twitter has today announced it will no longer accept political advertising on its platform. According to the company it will publish the new guidelines on November.

The tech companies have recently faced major outcry regarding the fake news, privacy issues and fake political videos. According to Twitter, the world needs more forward-looking political ad regulation.

“We’ll share the final policy by 11/15, including a few exceptions (ads in support of voter registration will still be allowed, for instance). We’ll start enforcing our new policy on 11/22 to provide current advertisers a notice period before this change goes into effect.”

Super Typhoon Hagibis: Rugby matches cancelled

The Rugby World Cup is facing changes due to the super typhoon Hagibis. It is approaching Japan during the weekend.  According to Evening Standard for example the England – France match has been cancelled.

It is estimated that the super typhoon equivalent to Category 5 hurricane, is going to weaken somewhat before it approaches the Japan current on Saturday.

Storm Lorenzo to hit the UK and Ireland today

According to several weather forecasts, the storm Lorenzo, earlier Hurricane Lorenzo, will hit the UK and Irish coastal areas today.

It is expected to bring strong winds and heavy rains in the coastal areas. The authorities have warned that there might also be floodings and power shortages and asked the inhabitants to stay equipped for the weather.

The UK Maritime and Coastquard Agency has issued gale warnings for shipping in these areas: FitzRoy, Sole, Lundy, Fastnet, Irish Sea, Shannon, Rockall, Malin, Herbides and Bailey.


German government to foster sustainable agriculture

The German Government has decided to foster sustainable agriculture in the coming years. According to the government, next year there will be additional 75 million euros to promote relevant sustainable actions.

The Cabinet said that the country’s EU pilar two in the agriculture will be used partly to projects that promote sustainable and environmentally sound farming methods and development. This means that farmers get direct payments for the work towards sustainable agriculture, like for example in the transition to organic farming.

The Cabinet decision was made on the 4th September. There are around a million people producing goods worth 50 billion euros annually in the German agriculture sector.
