Premier League to wear TAG smartwatches

The Swiss watch brand TAG Heuer (MC:FP) has today signed new agreement with the Premier League. Twenty teams, all their matches, and the most followed football league in the world, will now be running on TAG Heuer time, both on English pitches and on broadcasts across the globe in 185 countries.

On the field, the fourth official’s boards will now be shaped like a TAG Heuer Carrera watch, and will bear the name of the Swiss watch brand. The referees will be sporting the TAG Heuer Connected smartwatch. During TV broadcasts, the TAG Heuer logo will also appear on screen.

– Our partnership with the Premier League seals the important and strong involvement in football of TAG Heuer. We are particularly proud and pleased about this partnership, as it will be key in the promotion of our brand and its football activities in Asia and in the whole world, said CEO of TAG Heuer Jean-Claude Biver.

Already the Official Timekeeper for the German Bundesliga, MLS (Major Soccer League) in the USA, the 2016 Copa America which will take place in the USA in June, the Chinese Football Association Super League, and the Australian National Football team, TAG Heuer is now also the partner of the prestigious English Championship.

Intel: Focus on diversity globally – sport watch at the end of 2016

Intel (INTC) will focus more on diversity issues globally and to use conflict-free materials in its processors. The company CEO Brian Krzanick announced the targets during his keynote presentation at CES2016 in Las Vegas today.

– When Intel started its work to address conflict minerals and gaps in diversity and inclusion, we were told by many people that our goals were unrealistic and would be impossible to achieve,” Krzanich said. – Our collective efforts show that we can influence entirely new and different ways of doing business that also improve the human experience, he stressed.

The company also announced several interesting co-operations projects with leading industry brands that will use technology and data analytics to benefit people’s overall health, fitness and athletic performance. Intel announced plans to work with ESPN* and Red Bull Media House* to design Intel-powered solutions that empower athletes and bring amazing viewing experiences to life, and joint efforts with Oakley* to personalize and advance the tools people use to be more active.

Swatch and Visa to make contacless pay

Swatch SA and Visa have signed an agreement related to contacless payments. This new pay-by-the-wrist watch, Swatch Bellamy will be launched in early 2016.

According to the companies this service can be used globally where Visa payments are accepted.

– It‘s also true that “bel ami” means “good friend” in French, and the new BELLAMY watch will doubtless become a good friend to its wearer. Contactless NFC technology uses high-frequency radio waves to enable electronic devices to communicate over short distances, usually less than 10 cm.Pay-by-the-wrist transactions require absolutely no energy at all from the watch itself, meaning customers can expect the usual battery life of a Swatch, the company stated in the press release.

Rebranding Oscars and Super Bowl for new ads

There is going on a rebranding of Oscars at the same time when the real Academy Oscars are awarded. Social media has changed the advertising landscape of the two major advertising mega events, Oscars and Super Bowl.

According to several studies Oscars-event is more targeted for women and high income audience, while Super Bowl is more targeted for men, but more often also for families. The Super Bowl games has the largest television audience, this year with 114,4 million people.

One of the newcommers in Oscars this year is Netflix and according to surveys Oscars audience are more likely to buy the brand compared to the Super Bowl.

The are also other reasons that are for Oscars than the targeted audience –   less competition in general, category limitations and more social actions. It is estimated that there will be 43 million people watching Oscars Gala tonight.
