10_03_-®Agence Rudy RicciottiIt all started in 2005. A dream about music, arts, literature and ballet with passion, at the same place.  It is about music with the very best acoustics of the world. Where this could be? The first concert in this magnificient music house could already sound in 2017/2018 and where..in Gstaad.

–        We wanted to create a place where our quest can enjoy the very best music of the world and enjoy also the art exhibition, literature and ballet, says Markus Kappeler-Steffen, President of the Foundation Board, Les Arts Gstaad Foundation.

The designer of this inspirational hall is French architect Rudy Ricciotti, a man behind the Museum of European and Mediterranean Civilisation in Marseilles  and with Grand Prix National a´Architeture. According to Ricciotti, the concert hall will reflect local traditions with wooden spirit and the aim is to enrich the beautiful landscape and nature. And one cannot say more. The pictures of this music hall are master pieces.

A place for 1200 people

It is calculated that the construction of this music hall will take 4 years, while there will be infrastructure changes in the town Gstaad. According to the plan, there is a need for a new tunnel and new street in order the get the logistic working. The new music hall will be placed by the Gstaad railway station.

The new concert hall in Saanenland will have places for 1200 people, and it will challenge the music places in Lucerne, Genf and Zurich.  The idea is to offer weekend stays with high-class music concerts and international art exhibition with lux atmosphere.

The concert hall will be energy efficiency and take the environment requirements into account in different part of the house. There is calculated to be 30-40 concerts in a year and 300-400 visitors per day.

Whether the new building will use for example Leed certification or something else is still under consideration. This project could get the Platinum level of Leed with all the logistic, material and transportation aspects. So, it is no wonder that investors are interested of this fantastic building. It is estimated that the building construction cost could be 100 million CHF.

Focus on interior and design

The focus is to get the best possible acoustics in the house inside. The concert hall will be designed to give a very warm and welcoming feeling.

–        It is our way of thinking that people come here to see and listen to music and that they can feel themselves relaxed and cozy at the same time, he says. And the aim of the concert hall is to make a music building one cannot find in Europe elsewhere.

Part of the building will be underground, but the rest of the building will be like a haystack in a field. The building is a mixture of wooden aroma, harmony with the mountains and emphasis on high-quality. This house will create its own magnificient place to present and play international and local arts in a modern way, but still with tradition.

Moncler, the Italian luxury ski jackets company, has been in Milan Stock Exchange since the year end 2013. The company´s initial public offering was more than 30 times subscribed. Moncler´s IPO was the biggest since 2012 and the market capitalization of this Italian company is over 2,6 billion euros.

This Italian luxury company joins other luxury companies like Brunello Cucinelli, cashmere casualwear, and Salvatore Ferragamo, shoemaker and Luxxotica, eyeglasses in the Stock Exchange.

Integrated Reporting Framework was launched in London in December 2013. This model promotes a cohesive and efficient approach to corporate reporting and aims to improve the quality of information.

The primary purpose of an integrated report is to explain how an organization creates value in short, medium and long term. The Report aims to provide more information about the external environment that affects the company.

There are different kind of capital categories: financial capital, manufactured capital, intellectual capital, human capital, social and relationship capital and last natural capital. For example this natural capital means all renewable and non-renewable environmental resources and processes that support the past, current or future prosperity of a company.

It is also good to notice that different industries and service organisations have their different value and capital perceptions, so not the all capitals are equally important.

How ice hockey turned into tourism in Engelberg?

All began with ice hockey and Canada, when young Jean fell in love with Alpine skiing. He was travelling along the Canadian Alpine team for years and got to know all the Alpine places in Europe and the US. This gave him a lifelong spirit to the Alps and this turned also to a family story. He found his wife, a local ski teacher, from the mountains.  And the mountains became their business.

Before we go so far Jean worked in INTERSPORT Switzerland and International, ski boots company Raichle and McDonalds and was responsible of the marketing operations in Europe together for 20 years. After those years he was offered a hotel to run. The beginning of the entrepreunial carrier was not easy with financing and with renovation. Now after three years, Jean is happy. The company is on track and the customers are coming back year after year.

Engelberg, which is one of the top ski resorts in Switzerland, offers ski riding above 3000 meters sea level in every weather. The place is a paradise for skiers and especially for free riders to whom Engelberg offers many beautiful places. It is also a place where skilled skiers can exercise their skiing over and over again. It goes without saying that Engelberg is one of the stuffiest places in the Swiss Alps.  The famous Mount Titlis has different kind of events during the year, in summer and during the winter season.  In summer time  the easiest hiking could be the Flower Trail, near Trübsee with the variety of Alpine flowers species.

According to Jean, new kind of service mentality and packages are needed, while tourism is changing. The average time spent on holidays is now 2,1 days, he says. Not for a week as it used to be before. And Engelberg has done its best. One can choose from snow sports, sledding, cross-country to igglo building.

Sustainable growth in tourism

Jean is worried about the situation that the growth of tourism has not always been sustainable. – The tourism has grown but how to make the changes in a sustainable way? He said he would like to see more about the service integration and sustainable design in the city area like in many places in the US ski areas.

He reminds that we have not seen the direct implications of climate change. Although there will be no effect in the near or long term into tourism, there will be big changes in the longer run. The smelting of the glaciers is a real problem for the business. And this is an international nature concern.

Also the competitive position will be changing over the years. The biggest risk for Alpine tourism is the cheap beach holidays to the new growth countries like Marocco. The Alpine skiing will compete with the time spent on games, city tourism and home decoration.

So the life as a tourism entrepreneur is changing. According to Jean the only thing which can make difference is the good co-operation and networking.  – We can always improve our operations, he says.

Engelberg is a perfect ski resort for business people with good logistic, services and experiences. It is also one of the favorite destinations and its offering includes arts, music and sports in every season. Special thanks also to the perfect breakfast buffet. It is no wonder why Alpine skiing exceeds ice hockey..at least in some occasions.

What kind of IR story you have?

It is this time of the year. IR professionals are working with their Annual Reports and sifting from analyst infos to conference calls and getting back to the hard work, annual report. And each time you face the same situation. Which would be the headlines and how to get stakeholders interested of the output? What to tell about strategy or the crisis we had?

IR communications is the hardest communications form. There are plenty of legislations from government side and different kind of rules from stock exchanges. And not to forget the good corporate governance. There are last minute updates from auditors and it requires 24/7 surveillance between legal, finance and IR communications officers.

Company´s IR story is targeted to different kind of professional stakeholders like analysts, investors and financial journalists.  And more often companies are using social media channels to deliver the message to a broader audience.  In that jungle how to get your message heard, how to establish credibility and how to accelerate your relationships?

Company´s IR story should focus on your key messages related to your strategy, vision and relevant key metrics. Financial communications in not only numbers, it is more often about the strategy and the communications itself: how do you deliver your message?
